When the reach half time, the seniors have no hope of winning and things take a turn for the worse. The second half of the games goes from friendly competition to an all-out brawl when a sophomore girl taunts Jenna. Awkward - Season 4, Episode 2

 Season 4, Episode 2
~Listen to This~

The second episode of the fourth season begins with yet another injury for Jenna. While helping Jake film a music video for his new song, Jenna gets hit in the face with a wine cork which causes her to fall, hitting her face on a fountain on the way down and chipping her tooth. She goes to the dentist to get her tooth repaired and wakes up having had a second surgery to remove her wisdom teeth. Due to having both these, she is unable to speak for 24 hours. Jenna, however, still needing to improve her academic standing goes to school. She sees Val, the guidance counsellor, who finds her a new extracurricular activity as a peer counsellor. Jenna proves to be very good at this as she can’t speak and only listens to the girls problems.  Meanwhile Jenna is concerned about her relationship with Matty. He hasn’t spoken to her since they last hooked up and she is wondering what he thinking. The series ends in an explosive conversation where Jenna expresses how mad she is at Matty for ignoring her.  He decides to tell her the real reason for keeping to himself: he just found out he was adopted.

Awkward - Season 4, Episode 1

  Season 4 Episode 1
~No Woman is an Island~

Season 4 of Awkward picks up a few months after the last season left off. It is the beginning of Jenna’s senior year and after all of the drama from the previous, she is ready to start over. That’s when she realizes that last year’s mistakes are not going away that easily. Slacking off second semester of junior year left Jenna ranked at #137 in her class. This combined with her lack of extracurricular activities leaves Jenna concerned that she won’t be able to get into college. On top off all of that, she discovers that she still has feelings for Matty. A new girl, Eva, shows up and easily befriends Jenna but it looks like she’s quite mysterious and it seems like she might cause some trouble in the future. We’ll have to keep watching to find out what the rest of the season has in store for Jenna’s future and if Matty will be a part of it.

Awkward - Season 3, Episode 20

                                     Season 3, Episode 20
 ~Who I Want to Be~

Season 3 was filled with ups and downs for Jenna. In the final episode of the season, it’s the end of junior year and prom is approaching. It’s time for Jenna to decide ‘who she wants to be,’ the topic of her final paper for Mr. Hart’s creative writing class. Jenna struggles with her choices and doesn’t know what to write about. Everyone else is getting ready for prom but after losing her friends and boyfriend, Jenna doesn’t plan on going.  After an emotionally discussion with her mom, she finally has a breakthrough and realizes what she wants to write and more importantly, who she wants to be. Finally completing her paper, Jenna decides she will go to prom on her own. Her final thoughts sum up how she has progressed since the season began:

“I had been struggling to think of what to say, so I stopped thinking. I was convinced I didn’t know who I wanted to be and then I realized the answer was all around me. I want to be someone who’s willing to forgive.  I want to be someone who cares more about other people than themselves. I want to be someone who can tell it like it is. I want to be someone who would give up everything for the right reasons. I want to be someone who sees the good in everyone. I want to be someone who is a true friend. I want to be someone who always tries to be a better person, and someone who learns from his mistakes. I want to be someone who encompasses all those things so I can finally be that girl who doesn’t need a boy to be happy because I’ll know how to dance all on my own.”
